Cable test for Hydrogen Permation
The purpose of the test is to demonstrate the resistance to permeation of Gas Tight Cable Designs.
A simplified test setup sketch is shown bellow:
Several customers have used this test setup at our facilities.
The ends of the cable sections are connected to a Hydrogen gas detector. Alternatively one cable end is connected to the gas detector and the other end is sealed off. In this case the two cable sections outside the gas chamber can have different lengths.
The gas chamber is filled with Hydrogen gas. The output signal level from the gas detector is logged versus time. Depending on the equipment this can be done continuously or by sampling at suitable time intervals.
